Frequently Asked Questions

What is the easiest way to book a class?

By selecting the class, you wish to attend from our schedule page and purchasing a pass or allocate a pass you want to use that is currently active on your account from a previous purchase.

Do we have to book a class prior to coming?

It is always best if you call ahead and reserve your space, as often classes can reach capacity.

What does it mean when a class says waitlist only?

All classes have a waitlist feature and are particularly useful if or when class capacity is restricted. If you see this notice when you are trying to book a class, it means that the class is currently at full capacity and only waitlist space is available. If you see a waitlist option for a class, you wish to attend be sure to add yourself to it. As cancellations occur you will be notified by text and email that you have successfully got into class. You can respond Y to confirm your spot or N to cancel your booking and your space can be offered to the next member on the waitlist. If you are not receiving any text or email notifications, be sure to check with management about your account settings to ensure they are switched on.
Please note: You will NOT be charged if you do not get into a class from the waitlist.

Are the classes suitable for all levels of yogi?

In short – Yes!! Our classes are suitable for all to try, regardless if it is day 1 or 10,0001 of your yoga practice. Our classes offer something for everyone, we offer variations and modifications throughout class everyday and our incredible teaching team are all experienced in offering variations of poses for beginners and more progressions to those who have built up a bit more consistency on their mat. We really want people to discover their own unique yoga at their own pace – so our philosophy is be proud of yourself for trying something new, challenge yourself a little and have some fun along the way.

When is best to arrive to the studio for my class?

We open our studio doors 30mins prior to the commencement of the class. However, you may not have the time or opportunity to arrive this early. We do recommend arriving though between 10-15mins before class starts to allow enough time to check in with the teacher, set up your mat and grab any props, put your belongings away, use the bathroom and prepare for your class.

Please note the doors will be locked at the commencement of the class to ensure the safety and security members and studios property whilst class is in progress.

What do I need to bring and what do I wear?

If you are partaking in one of our hot classes we recommend wearing lightweight, flexible exercise clothing that allows for you move comfortably. Our Yin classes are a little different, being more meditative in nature you may prefer to wear something a little more lose fitting or warm (In winter socks are great in Yin). In the way of gear, you can bring yoga mat, a large beach size towel to cover your mat, (if you don’t have these items you can hire them upon arrival for a nominal fee), your water bottle and if you are in a hot class you may want to bring an extra towel and change of clothes for after class.
Yoga blocks, straps, eye pillows and bolsters will be provided for your use during your class. You are welcome to bring your own as well if preferred.

Can I bring my children to class?

Unfortunately not, yoga is great for kids and we’ve seen some great progressions in schools and communities introducing it more frequently.  However, the hot room is too overwhelming for children.  Also due to our insurance providers agreement and OH&S policies we do not have the adequate space to crèche unattended minors. Minimum age for a minor to attend the studio is 16 years, who must be accompanied into class with a parent or guardian who will remain with them during the duration of the class.

Do you have shower facilities?

Definitely, we have stunning and properly cleaned full shower, toilet and change room facilities at the studio. We provide a few little toiletries items that you are welcome to use, or you are most welcome to bring your own. Please always feel free to have a shower after class or use our facilities to get ready for work.

Do you sell gift cards?

We definitely do and they are a popular choice. You can choose to either buy a gift card to the value of your choosing or purchase a pre existing amount and have it directly placed onto their Hot Yoga Oxenford account so that it is ready to use.

What if I do not have a yoga mat, Can I hire one?

We do have a range of yoga accessories available for you to purchase.

Is there parking?

Yes, we have ample parking at the studio for all our classes.

Are all the classes hot?

The majority of our classes are hot or heated classes. Our hot classes are usually around 37 degrees and our warm classes around 32 degrees. Our non – heated classes are Yin and modified Ashtanga which use no heat at all, however you may still get a bit of a sweat on in the modified Ashtanga class as it moves quickly.

Can I practice yoga during pregnancy?

Yoga is amazing during pregnancy, but we suggest speaking to your health care professional about finding pregnancy yoga options rather than being in the hot room during pregnancy. If your doctor suggests Yin (non-heated) is a good yoga practice to begin with, please notify the teacher at the beginning of the class to allow for them to offer variations or modifications to the poses.

What should I do if I am injured?

A lot of people find that yoga actually helps rehab, and heal many types of injury and assists with strengthening the area again and helping to return some range of movement to the area. This does depend on the specific injury, and it is always best to check with your health care provider if yoga is suitable for you.

If you get an all clear to practice yoga let the teacher know when you arrive to the studio that you are supporting an injury so they can best offer props, variations, or modifications to help you practice safely.
